A Welcome Back Message from Superintendent Gardner

Dear MGSD Students, Families, and Community Members:
Welcome to the 2026 – 2027 school year! I hope your summer has been filled with rest, making memories, and time spent with loved ones. As the doors opened across all of our schools today, there was a distinct energy that comes with the start of a new academic year and the infinite possibilities for our children.
Reflecting on the past year, I am immensely proud of what we accomplished together across the Mooresville Graded School District and while we celebrate those achievements, our commitment to continuous improvement remains stronger than ever. This coming year, we expect to build on that momentum and raise the bar even higher. We are dedicated to providing engaging learning experiences that ensure every student has the tools and support to grow, thrive, and succeed.
At the heart of everything we do in MGSD is our core value of Authentic Relationships. We believe that a truly exceptional education can only happen when students, educators, and families feel connected, valued, and heard. Open, honest communication is the foundation of these relationships. We encourage you to stay actively engaged with your child’s teachers, school administration, and our district leaders. Whether it’s asking questions, sharing feedback, or utilizing tools like ParentSquare, keeping those doors of communication wide open ensures we are always aligned in supporting your student.
We also deeply value family involvement. You are your child’s first and most important teacher, and your active participation in their education — attending school events, joining PTSOs, volunteering, or simply asking about their day at the dinner table — makes a profound difference in their success.
Our schools are only as strong as the community behind them. To our parents, guardians, staff, students, and local partners, on behalf of MGSD I want to thank you. Thank you for placing your trust in us, for investing your time and heart into our district, and for working hand-in-hand with us every single day. Together, let’s make the 2026 – 2027 school year our best one yet!
With kind regards and appreciation,
Jason Gardner, Ed.D.
