Hello Mooresville Community!
The Mooresville Graded School District (MGSD) is pleased to announce the successful progress of its fundraising campaign to support Yancey County Schools following the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. The outpouring of generosity from the Mooresville community has been overwhelming, with $14,171 raised to date for the western North Carolina school district that MGSD adopted. The funds have been used and continue to be used to provide gifts for students during the holidays, ensure students can continue to go on field trips, and to support the Yancey CTE department initiative to build tiny homes.
“We are incredibly humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support shown by our community,” said Dr. Jason Gardner, MGSD Superintendent. "This generosity demonstrates the true spirit of neighbor helping neighbor, and we are confident that these funds will make a significant difference in the lives of students and staff in Yancey County."
"We are deeply grateful for the generosity of the Mooresville Graded School District students and families. Each day, we continue to navigate numerous challenges, from infrastructure and rebuilding efforts to instructional needs and the harsh winter weather. Despite these difficulties, your kindness and support give us hope as we work to overcome the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Thank you for your thoughts, encouragement, and for keeping our incredible students in the mountains in your prayers." Kathy Amos, Yancey County Schools Superintendent
